Our company is a consumer-oriented, new media start-up focused on all things related to home improvement, design, DIY, home repair and decorating. We are venture funded and looking for a lead technologist to build the site, database and high volume email platform.

Role: Director/VP of Technology
Reports to: CEO
Location: New York, NY
Qualifications:
• Experienced developer who has previously built and managed a consumer-facing web site.
• Fast, proficient coding experience in all front-end, back-end and database technologies required to plan, develop and launch a new consumer-facing website & email newsletter.
• Strong knowledge of and experience managing consumer databases.
• Can personally do the coding for the basic website, but also has experience managing others (internally and outsourced.)
• Strong project management skills.
• Has experience with building custom Content Management Systems, as well as setting up and managing white-label CMS solutions.
• Is a master of SEO.
• Has SEM experience and ability to build dynamic landing pages for marketing campaigns.
• Familiar with and has experience with Social Media and Web 2.0 tools and features.
• Familiarity with Photoshop and front-end aesthetics/design a plus.
• Interest in the content.
This will be a very fun company to build and requires someone with the desire to dive into a very early stage (but funded) concept. This role is not for a very senior manager who is not interested in rolling up sleeves and doing the work personally. We will be building this with a lean team, but the experience should be a very satisfying one. The business should be quite profitable early and should not require additional investment capital to sustain the idea post launch.
